After the introduction of smartphones, we, including our children, have gotten used to having information at our fingertips. Gone are the days of repetitive memorization of one’s friend’s landline, parents/grandparents phone number, and unfortunately, the numbers of emergency services.
In order to be prepared for any situation, here are some numbers that we recommend your child to memorise, and a few extras which are lesser known, however extremely helpful in times of need.
Emergency Numbers:
- Police: 112 or 100
- Fire: 101
- Ambulance: 102
- National Emergency Number: 112 (Irrespective of what state you are in, this number is available for all emergencies)
- Child Helpline: 1098
- Anti-Poison Number: 1066
- Women’s Helpline: 1091, (Domestic Abuse- 181)
Lesser-Known Numbers:
- Senior Citizen Helpline: 1091 or 1291
- Road Accident Emergency Services: 1073
- Cyber Crime Helpline: 1930
- Disaster Management Services: 108
